Define the finished piece

Choose one small deliverable with clear requirements. For a short video, note the aspect ratio, length, caption style and the files you need at the end. For a cover, check the crop on the platforms where it will appear. Compare tools against that task instead of counting every feature in the catalogue.

Keep the source material simple. Original diagrams and footage you have permission to use make it easier to assess the editing process without creating a separate rights problem.

Distinguish free access from usable rights

A free account does not mean that every asset or feature is free. Check whether the selected template, font, stock clip, music track or generative feature is available on your plan and licensed for the proposed commercial use. Preserve a record of the licence that applies to each asset.

Adobe Express Free is an example of a starting tool with standard editing functions and limited storage. Premium features, generative credits and individual asset conditions require their own check. A tool’s export rights also do not grant rights to material you upload.

Review the export before choosing a plan

Inspect text at phone size, listen to the audio, check captions and ensure that a final file contains no misleading product demonstration. If you use AI, check the actual scene for invented details and apply the platform’s disclosure rules where required.

Only consider a paid plan when you can name a capability you need and have checked the full billing commitment. This guide does not claim that Adobe Express or any other tool was used to produce tested affiliate videos for Tidcore.

Put the checks next to a real example.
